Chicas in da house aka Rach and Charl.
Today we woke up bright and early, great of course (not!), and walked to Schola where we met TONI! It was a right mission, but we loved cause it was nice and sunny! :)
When we arrived at Schola, Toni took us outside on the basketball court to play some ice breaker games. We then went inside and planned some sessions for later on in the week.
As a group we then went to get some lunch, where we had Paella, which was...to our dislike as it didn't tickle our tummy, however other members of the
group thought it was YUM and h
After the ciesta we all met back at Schola to go and coach. To Charlotte's surprise there was no bus, no tram but some random Spanish men in cars to take us there. Expecting just 'HOLA' and a handshake, she was greeted with an unexpeted kiss on BOTH cheeks off all THREE men, cringe, but traditional Spanish greeting.
When I (Charlotte) arrived at the sports centre, I was taken over to the basketball court by Cristina where I met the children and got an insight into the sport. I was able to take the warm up, one of the activities that was introduced in the ice breaker session with Toni, the same morning and also took one of the activites within the session, using both English for their learning and Spanish for my own.
When I (Rachel) arrived at the swimming pool, I was introduced to Ariel who was very friendly. I was directed into the changing rooms by a women who didn't speak English, therefore it was hard to understand her but we tried to speak as much Spanish as possible. During the session, for the first hour, I was in the small pool helping babies learn to swim which was fun and rewarding. I encouraged them frequently using MUY BIEN and 'HIGH 5.' I then observed the swimmers in the big pool by walking along pool side. This was benficial because it aloud me to gain an insight into how sessions are structured in this country.
Dinner tonight was pizza night, which was TOTES DELISH! (totally delicious). We enjoyed our second day and we are looking forward to doing more coaching, improving our spanish and our excursion day- the zoo! and the football match.
ADIOS AMIGOS :)
Charlotte & Rachel
